Rev. Helfer comes to UUCSC with a BA in English literature from George Washington University, an MS in environmental management and policy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MBA from the University of Maryland, and a Masters in Divinity from Claremont School of Theology.  Rev. Helfer is currently a distance-learning doctoral student, also at Claremont, in faith-based strategic leadership.

Rev. Helfer was ordained in 2014. They are active at the regional and denomination levels of our faith, including current service as a trainer in the UUA’s Beyond Categorical Thinking program, a member of the panel of the Unitarian Universalist Fund for a Just Society, and a presenter at the UUA General Assembly.

Rev. Helfer was called to ministry after two decades of work in the environmental field. They is passionate about social and environmental issues and is enthusiastic about reaching out to our local community. Rev. Helfer has faith that the inclusivity, dedication, and passion of Unitarian Universalism has and will continue to play an important role in building beloved community.
