Small Group Ministry at UUCSC is a wonderful way for people to engage in meaningful conversations about our spiritual lives and to build deeper connections within our growing congregation.
Small Group Ministry is sometimes referred to as covenanting, spiritual exploration or reflection groups. In these small groups of eight to ten participants, we make time for each of us to be heard and to practice the art of ministering to each other with intentional listening.
At UUCSC, we have our own format to support the gathering. It includes developing a covenant and committing to attend Small Group meetings twice a month for at least three months.
Some of the groups that started when we began Small Group Ministry about sixteen years ago met for many years. Others were of shorter duration but provided an equal richness of experience. At present we have two ongoing groups of ten participants each.
When there is an opening in an existing group it can be offered to a new participant, but right now we’re beginning an open enrollment process to try to form at least one new group. If you’re interested, please pick up an Interest Form in the Oneto Community Room, fill it out with your availability times, and drop it in the folder provided, or drop it off in the church office. Groups will be formed based on the times interested individuals are available for meetings. All are welcome!
The program is supported by the minister and two volunteer coordinators, Essjay Foulkrod and Sally Barney, who meet monthly with representatives from each group. If you have any questions about Small Group Ministry, please contact Sally Barney at 789-0723.
