Sermon audio – Lessons from El Paso – Rev. DL Helfer
As part of UUCSC’s racial justice program, Rev. DL Helfer is leading discussions during October on Kindred, by Octavia E. Butler. Described by one reviewer as a “powerful novel about a modern black woman transported back in time to a slave plantation in the antebellum South,” the book is about a modern family’s attempts to come to terms with its slave history.
When the book group met on Monday, October 1, the decision was made to change the meeting format to encourage more people to participate. The next meeting will be on Monday, October 15 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the library. If you plan to attend, please read the entire book.
Childcare will be provided if it is requested in advance.
A small number of copies of the book will be available for those who cannot afford to buy one.
